We're making new open source Pebble watches
I've tried pretty much every other smartwatch on Earth, yet I still wear my Pebble every day—nothing else matches its features and long battery life. I really, really, really hoped someone else would create a proper replacement, but no one has stepped up, and my stash of old Pebbles is dwindling!

Third-party tracking is becoming a prevalent practice in mobile app ecosystems. While providing benefits for app developers, this practice also introduces several privacy issues for end-users. The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive (ePD) mandate that mobile apps must obtain user consent before sharing users’ personal data with third-party trackers. This work presents an empirical study investigating the compliance of 400 popular mobile apps (200 Android apps and their corresponding version for iOS) with the ePD and GDPR requirements on valid consent.
εxodus analyses Android applications. It looks for embedded trackers and lists them. A tracker is a piece of software meant to collect data about you or what you do. In a way, εxodus reports are a way of knowing what really are the ingredients of the cake you are eating. εxodus does not decompile applications, its analysis technique is entirely legal.

Having recently had trouble updating my #Nexus 5 (also manufactured 7 years ago) to #Android 10, I asked myself:
"Why is my e-reader still getting regular OS updates, while #Google stopped issuing security patches for my smartphone four years ago?"
To try to answer this, let us turn to economic incentives theory.

This page describes my experiences with the HTC One S, a handy little Android phone I have on a loan by a friend. It's a neat device because it's small and I can wipe it with Cyanogenmod (CM) to have more control over the machine, including running more free software on it and removing the stock proprietary google apps shipped with the phone. It also happens that CM has more recent versions of Android for the phone, which only runs Android 4.1, an unsupported release.
